To perform a SCR as a halfwave rectifier with resistive inductive load. First of connect all the component as shown in the figure. Use current probe for current waveform. Use BT150 or BT 151 scr , which are mostly used in the market.

Generally all the user faced the problem during scr operation is how to set firing angle in multisim. Here I have applied a alternative wave to set firing angle.

How to set firing angle in multisim ?

First of all find source frequency? here it is 60 Hz.
so total time period for one cycle is 1/60=0.016666 sec
and total degree for one cycle is 360 degree.

Consider 360 degree=0.01666 sec

Now If you want to set 30 degree then 360/12=30 degree same thing 0.016666/12=0.0013888888 sec.

Free wheeling Diode effect

As Shown in the above circuit diagram If we open switch j1 then we can get the output without free wheeling diode , across resistive inductive load.

As shown in the figure below in negative cycle we can see there is a negative pulse (highlighted) , due to inductor. Here inductor will store energy in current form and also smoothing the current.

To remove the effect of inductive load in negative cycle we will use free wheeling diode across load. In next figure you can see that we can get waveform without inductive effect.
